YAOUNDE—Cameroon would form part of a joint military operation to defeat Boko Haram, the terrorist group responsible for several bombings in Nigeria, including attacks on a UN compound in August and the Nigerian police headquarters in May.

SONARA reports fire at refinery |

There’s been a fire outbreak at Cameroon’s lone oil refinery leading to a shutdown of the facility, the company’s management said. A fire broke out at the distillation furnace at about 11am today, said General Manager Charles Metouk in a statement. The fire was quickly brought under control but the facility was shutdown to ascertain the severity of the problem, Metouk said. News of the fire raised concerns about fuel supply. Metouk said the process would go on unabated. The “vital organs” of the refinery were not affected, the statement added. The cause of the fire was still being investigation
