BAFOUSSAM—John Fru Ndi, the chairman of Social Democratic Front (SDF) told a rally to mark 20 years of the opposition party Wednesday to prepare for the 2011 presidential election.

A strong critic of Cameroon’s electoral system, Mr Fru Ndi had earlier warned there would be no election under ELECAM, the organ in charge of elections, because of its lack of independence and credibility.

As has been the case over the past three elections, Mr Fru Ndi is widely expected to be the party’s candidate for the poll expected sometime around October next year.

SDF anniversary rallies were held around the country. They came shortly after a frenzy of activities, particularly in Yaounde to mark 50 years of the French speaking part of the country.

The chairman went to Bafoussam while the Secretary General, Elizabeth Tamajong, moved to the northern parts of the country in what looked like a dash at parts of the country where its support has been falling.
