Around a hundred elephants have been raiding villages in the Far North region for the past three months, forcing some residents to flee, according to the state newspaper Cameroon Tribune. The elephants, from the Waza National Park, are camped in the Kalfou reserve and come out form time to time to raze homes, farmlands and anything in their path in the villages of Zanyao and Kaourouss. On several occasions elephants were spotted in the centre of the town of Yangua, not far from the regional capital, Cameroon Tribune reported. Waza is home for lions and elephants and in particular for one of the last populations of the Kordofan Giraffe.
