Cameroon's national soccer team, bidding for their sixth title, began training in Nairobi on Today  for the Africa Cup of Nations that starts next week in Angola.

The Indomitable Lions, winners of the trophy in 1984, 1988, 2000 and 2002 landed in Kenya on Tuesday evening and will be based here for four days before flying to Angola for their Group D opener against Gabon on Jan. 13 in Lubango.

Cameroon are expected to field against Kenya's Harambee Stars on Saturday in a build-up clash ahead of the Nations Cup campaign.

The 2004 continental champions, Tunisia and Zambia complete Group D while Cameroon's opponents on Saturday failed to qualify for the biennial extravaganza.

"It's disappointing Kenya will not be in Angola and they should work extra hard to ensure they do not miss out the next edition," Cameroon captain and Inter Milan striker, Samuel Eto'o told local reporters on Wednesday.

Eto'o, a global ambassador for the UN Environmental Program that is headquartered in Nairobi, spent part of the day at a media briefing.

Cameroon coach, Paul Le Guen, accompanied Eto'o to the function alongside Eyong Enoh (Ajax Amsterdam), Jean Makoun (Lyon), Achile Emana (Tolouse) and Mohammadou Idrissou (SC Freiburg) during the launch of a strategic partnership between global sports gear manufacturers Puma and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), geared towards supporting the 2010 international year of biodiversity.

As they attended to the press obligations, assistant coaches, French national, Yves Colleu and revered former goalkeeper for the Cameroon, Thomas Nkono, took the rest of the Lions through a morning training session that featured 18 players.

Arsenal midfield star, Alex Song, immediate former captain, Rigobert Song who will feature in his eighth Nations Cup and Newcastle United's Geremi Njitap Fotso are some of the prominent players who were present at the session that was locked out to the media.

Le Guen joined the team at the afternoon's training but declined to make public comments.
