Nigeria's ban by FIFA and a row over Cameroon's decision to play their home game in Garoua, which has suffered a cholera epidemic, have dominated the second round of the qualifying tournament for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations this weekend.
Lubango—Gabon who were beaten by Cameroon twice in the qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) took a sweet revenge in the tournament’s opening match for Group D Wednesday.
The defeat was another major offset in the tournament that has seen favourites Ivory Coast held to a draw by an underdog and Nigeria walloped 4-1 by Egypt.
Cameroon went into the game hoping to win easily, having beaten Gabon home and away last year. But the team struggle through the first half despite maintaining pressure on the Gabonese defence.
They put up a great game in the second half but the effort did not pay off.
Commentators however have not ruled out the lions.
Cameroon's national soccer team, bidding for their sixth title, began training in Nairobi on Today for the Africa Cup of Nations that starts next week in Angola.
Yaounde - Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will train in Kenya for a week before heading for Angola for the 2010 African Cup of Nations finals, beginning there 10 January.
